Royal Leamington Spa will host the 2027 World Bowls Championship, with Victoria Park welcoming the sport’s top players from 20 July to 1 August 2027.

The event, delivered by World Bowls and Bowls England, will feature 12 days of competition involving more than 27 nations, including England, Australia, Scotland, New Zealand, Wales, Malaysia and Ireland, across men’s, women’s and para events.

Organisers say the championship will build on the legacy of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and aims to deliver a global showcase for the sport, with bowls’ leading players competing on the prestigious greens of Victoria Park.

It will be the first time since 2004 that the World Bowls Championship has been staged in the Northern Hemisphere, marking what organisers describe as a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity.

World Bowls CEO, Neil Dalrymple said: “Announcing the dates for the 2027 World Bowls Championship marks an exciting milestone on our calendar. Royal Leamington Spa is synonymous with excellence in bowls, and we are proud to bring the world’s top players to such an iconic venue."

Event Director, James Wurr, said: “Since announcing that England won the bid to host, there has been plenty of work taking place behind the scenes to make sure that this event delivers against our vision.

"We want to deliver a world-class Championship event which celebrates the tradition and history of both the local area and the sport as well as inspiring more people to play Bowls by seeing it at it’s very best, on home soil.”

Victoria Park, already known for hosting major events including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Bowls England National Finals, is expected to welcome visitors from around the world, boosting the profile of the town and surrounding area.

Warwick District Council said the championship will showcase everything the region has to offer, from its parks and heritage to its town centres and cultural attractions.
