Police are investigating after equipment at a new playground in Coventry was deliberately damaged.

West Midlands Police said some time before 23 June "extensive damage" was caused to the equipment a well as the machinery being used to install it in Jardine Crescent in Tile Hill.

The force added that the damage will cost thousands of pounds, and the opening of the new playground has been postponed, potentially affecting its summer activities programme.

The new Multi-Use Games Area is a joint effort between West Midlands Police, Coventry City Council and the Football Foundation designed to help bring the community together through sport.

Police are urging anyone who has any information to contact them.
