A Nuneaton school is to remain closed until at least Monday after a cyber attack affected school systems.

Higham Lane School was forced to close yesterday (January 5) and today (January 6) while investigations into the cyber incident continue.

The attack has affected the school's IT systems, including telephones, emails, servers, and the management system.

The school originally planned to reopen tomorrow (January 7) but in an update to parents and carers today (January 6) Headteacher Michael Gannon said it would "not be able to safely welcome pupils back on site this week."

It is now hoped that the school will be able to begin a "phased return" from Monday (January 12).

Mr Gannon said: "We are working closely with our Central England Academy Trust colleagues to explore ways in which we can start welcoming pupils back as soon as it is safe to do so."

He added that with the support of external specialists "good progress" is being made on the investigation and restoration of school systems.

Students and staff have been advised not to log into school systems until further notice.

A further update on the next steps is expected to be shared with families by Friday (January 9).
