Emotional support for young people in North Warwickshire is being strengthened through a new partnership that will train three emotion coaches to work in secondary schools.

The 18-month programme brings together ReconnectEd, Warwickshire County Council’s Virtual School, Nicholas Chamberlaine School and Higham Lane School to provide both emotional and academic support.

The coaches will work directly with pupils to help them understand and manage their emotions, improve wellbeing and stay engaged with learning.

The initiative builds on an existing coaching model designed to support students at risk of exclusion, with a focus on emotional regulation, resilience and achieving qualifications.

Training for the first group took place in March, marking the start of the scheme, which will see coaches working with pupils across participating schools over the coming months.

Talking about the new partnership, Director of Children and Families at Warwickshire County Council, John Coleman said: "This programme reflects our commitment to providing the right support at the right time, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, inclusion and positive educational outcomes.

“We are proud to support this initiative through Warwickshire Virtual School and look forward to the positive difference it will make for young people over the coming months."
