A motorcyclist has died after his bike left the carriageway and struck a tree on the A45 near Rugby.

The rider in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on Daventry Road at Woolscott yesterday evening (Monday 31st March).

Emergency services were called out just after 5.00pm.

An ambulance, paramedic officer, the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, and their critical care car responded along with Warwickshire Police.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived at the scene, they found bystanders caring for a motorcyclist, a man, who had reportedly left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

"The team of medics worked to administer advanced life support to the man. Tragically despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man, and he was confirmed deceased on scene a short time later.”

Police say the rider's next of kin have been informed.

They're also appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them - you can call them on 101, quoting reference number 263 of yesterday's date (31/03).
