A man aged in his 70s has been found dead after an incident in Coventry.

We're told police aren't treating it as a suspicious incident.

In a statement, officers from the West Midlands force told us: "We were called to Butt Lane, Coventry shortly after 5pm yesterday after concerns for a man's safety.

"Officers attended to support Fire and Ambulance colleagues and a man in his 70s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner."

A statement from the South Western Ambulance Service Trust said: "We were called to an incident off Butt Lane in Allesley, Coventry at 4.55pm.

"Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a man.

"Sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
