Man dies in two-car crash near Draycote Water

The incident triggered an emergency service response, with ambulance crews finding one of the drivers in a critical condition

A man has died has died after a serious two-car crash.

It happened yesterday (3 April) on the A426 near Draycote Water.

In a statement sent to us, officers said: "We’re appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision involving two cars that took place at 9.05pm yesterday (Thursday) on the A426 near Draycote Water.

"If you saw anything, have footage, or can help, please contact 101 quoting Incident 364 of 3 April."

The incident triggered an emergency service response, with ambulance crews telling us the driver of one of the vehicles was found to have been in a critical condition.

Despite their best efforts, they say nothing could be done to save him.

In a statement, the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a two car RTC near to the Draycote Water Reservoir in Thurlaston at 8.59pm, yesterday (3rd).

"We sent two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene.

"On arrival crews found two patients. The first of whom, a man, the driver of the first vehicle, was found in a critical condition.

"Sadly, despite best efforts from ambulance staff, nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

"The second patient, a woman, the driver of the other vehicle, was treated for injuries not thought to be serious and conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
