Traffic officers spotted a suspected stolen motorbike just after 6.15pm on Saturday (17 January).
It was stopped in Proffitt Avenue and a 23-year-old man was detained.
Officers found a bag nearby and a viable, loaded firearm was seized. They carried out further connected searches and recovered a cartridge and counterfeit money.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences. He remains in custody for questioning.
West Midlands Police say they're running Operation Target as part of their drive to take weapons off the streets and tackle serious and organised crime.
