A man has died after a collision on the M6 near Rugby.

It happened at around 6.30pm on Monday 8 December between junctions 1 and 2 of the northbound carriageway.

The driver of a red HGV stopped on the hard shoulder, and a short time later the driver of a white Scania HGV with a blue curtain sided trailer is believed to have driven into the red HGV.

The driver of the red HGV, a 47 year old man, died.

Police say his next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have been on the M6 or on the road network near the M6 that may have seen the white Scania HGV prior to the collision.
