At least one family has reportedly been left homeless after a fire tore through a block of flats on Sydenham Drive, Leamington Spa.

The fire occurred on Tuesday in the Fallow Hill flats, prompting an evacuation of residents as fire crews battled the flames.

While no injuries have been reported, one family now faces the challenge of rebuilding their lives.

Support has come quickly from the community, with a fundraising campaign set up by a 13-year-old friend of the affected family.

The GoFundMe page has already surpassed £1,400 within hours of launch.

Lucas, who created the fundraiser, wrote: “Hi my name is lucas and today my friend and her family have sadly been affected due to there house catching fire they have been left with nothing thankfully they are all ok i am doing this to hopefully give them a new chapter to start on and so they can hopefully start on there forever home hopefully you guys are able to donate and much as you can so they can have the life they deserve.”

Warwick District Council said: "We can confirm that the fire at Fallow Hill flats has now been put out and those living in the flats have been evacuated safely and unharmed.

"Our priority is to ensure the wellbeing of those who have been directly affected and Council officers are on-site now supporting those families with their immediate need for accommodation, food, and clothing and will work with them to assess what we need to put in place for the longer term.

"We would like to thank the local community for the support they have shown the families at this terrible time, and we are now working with emergency services to establish the cause of the fire and secure the safety of the building."
