During a recent burglary investigation in Rugby, police made an unexpected discovery of three live World War II shells in the area.
The Rugby Rural Central and South teams were initially focused on gathering information about a reported burglary but expanded their search scope, leading to the discovery of the explosive devices.
Police quickly contacted the Ministry of Defence, whose team from another county swiftly arrived to safely remove and dispose of the shells, ensuring community and officer safety.
Police efforts continued with visits to youth clubs in Binley Woods and Long Lawford to educate young people about the dangers of County Lines exploitation using VR technology.
Officers also engaged with local groups to spread awareness about County Lines and provided tips for identifying potential exploitation, including sudden association with unfamiliar individuals and unexplained possession of money or items.
In addition, the police participated in a car crime operation targeting vehicle security across areas such as Willoughby, Grandborough, Dunchurch, Ryton, and Wolston.
During the operation, officers found 13 unlocked cars and provided advice to owners on crime prevention.
Anyone concerned about possible County Lines activity or car security is encouraged to contact the police directly or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
