Iraqi national living in Coventry charged with rape and other offences

24-year-old from Coventry to appear in court following reported shop incident

An Iraqi national has been charged with rape and a series of other sexual offences in Stratford.

The accused, 24-year-old Jowad Haji from Park Street, Coventry, was arrested on 14th February and charged the following evening.

He faces charges of rape of a woman aged 16 or over, attempted rape of a woman aged 16 or over, sexual assault on a female, and intentional strangulation.

Haji is scheduled to appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on 24th February.

The charges relate to an alleged incident at a shop on Chapel Street in Stratford, reported on 12th February.

The case is ongoing.
