Police have made further arrests as the investigation into the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old in Coventry continues.

Michael Ababio died after after suffering a stab wound during a disorder outside Foleshill Library on Broad Street at around 9.40pm on Sunday evening (February 22nd).

A 19-year-old man found nearby with stab wounds was taken to hospital and was initially arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been de-arrested.

He remains in custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Police carried out warrants overnight at four addresses in Coventry and other locations, recovering evidence related to the investigation.

A man and a woman, aged 42 and 31, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remain in custody.

Officers are also investigating a second disorder that occurred on Foleshill Road about 20 minutes after the initial attack.

Police believe the second incident is not directly related.

A man has been charged with assault in relation to the second disorder and is currently remanded in custody.

Police are urging people not to share footage of either disorder on social media or through private messaging apps.

Det Supt Jim Munro, from West Midlands Police's Homicide team, said: “This is a complex enquiry involving a number of people who were at the scene, and we are relentlessly working to identify and arrest them.

“For the sake of Michael’s family, I would urge people to get in touch with any information they have.”
