Firefighters have tackled a fire at a block of flats in Coventry.

West Midlands Fire Service were called shortly before 3.15am on Tuesday (7 October) to a fire on Lyndale Road in Coventry.

Two fire engines and a brigade response vehicle attended, crewed by firefighters from Coventry and Canley stations.

The fire service said the fire was affecting a mobility scooter on the ground floor lobby area of a two-storey block of flats.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "The ground and first-floor hallways were heavily smoke-logged.

"Five people were led to safety and received precautionary checks by paramedics.

"We left the incident at 5.45am."
