Drivers to get free health checks at Warwick Services
Drivers can access free checks and advice on health and wellbeing at Warwick Services
Commercial drivers will be offered free health and wellbeing checks at Warwick Services this week as part of a national campaign focusing on driver health.
The event will take place at Welcome Break Warwick Services Southbound on Thursday 3 September, from 8am to 2pm.
Drivers will be able to get basic health checks and information about fatigue, sleep, mental health, nutrition and occupational health. They will also have the chance to complete a short, anonymous questionnaire about their health and wellbeing.
The findings will be used to support discussions at Driver Health Day at Loughborough University on Friday 4 September.
The event is being organised by Project EDWARD, with D4 Drivers, Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner and Welcome Break.
Philip Seccombe, Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner, said: "Warwickshire's motorway network carries thousands of commercial vehicles every day and keeps people, goods and services moving across the country.
"If we are serious about improving road safety, we must understand the factors that can affect a driver's ability to stay focused and alert behind the wheel.
"By listening to drivers directly, we can build a better understanding of the pressures they face and support a safer environment for everyone who travels through Warwickshire."
The event forms part of Driver Health Week, a new initiative looking at the health and wellbeing of professional drivers across the UK.
