A dispersal order will be in place for Coventry city centre this weekend.

Police have applied for - and been granted - additional powers.

The area covered includes the city centre, Far Gosford Street and parts of Hillfields.

Officers will be able to direct people to leave the area as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour, harassment and robbery - if people return they can be arrested.

The move follows a firearms discharge in September.

Police patrols are also being stepped-up through the weekend.

The West Midlands force says it's "working with businesses and the local authority to tackle these issues and keep residents and visitors to Coventry safe."
