A Coventry butchers has found a colourful way to celebrate Coventry City’s promotion to the Premier League, by creating sky blue sausages

Farmhouse Butchers, located in Coventry Market, says its sky blue sausages have been a big hit with customers, with more than a thousand already sold.

Butcher, Richard O'Sullivan, said it took a few attempts for them to perfect the recipe: "We tried different ways to make the sausages blue.

"Colouring the meat didn't work, we tried blueberries in the meat which also didn't work and then we found that dying the skins made the sausages come out really good."

The blue sausages have been flying off the shelves since Coventry City were in the last stages of their promotion push.

Richard said it's been great to see customers reactions: "It's been brilliant, we've had quite a lot of people taking them.

"Some people don't like the look of them but we've made a thousand so far and it's been great to do our bit to celebrate with the community."

As promotion fever continues to sweep through Coventry, Farmhouse Butchers say their sky blue sausages will remain on sale right through to the WE ARE BACK: LIVE celebrations on Bank Holiday Monday, 4 May.
