Coventry charity helps thousands after Nepal floods
Feed The Hungry UK is feeding more than 1,200 people a day and providing food, water and shelter to families affected by the disaster
A Coventry-based charity is appealing for public support following devastating flash floods in Nepal which have claimed more than 1,300 lives and left thousands of people missing.
Feed The Hungry UK is working with partners on the ground to provide food, water, shelter and transport to families who have lost their homes and possessions, two weeks ago.
Teams are continuing to distribute food packs and feeding more than 1,200 people each day, while rescue efforts continue in some of the worst-hit areas.
Pastor Ruben Rasaili, who is coordinating the charity’s response in Nepal said: “I saw thousands of houses swept away, and people crying for help.
"They don’t have food, they don’t have clothes, they don’t have a place to live. It is such a miserable situation."
Rasaili added: “Those who survived are finding shelter in a public hall or with some families in the village. We found some families who had been starving for three days, as well as many injured people we are taking to tent hospitals.
“We need to provide food supplies, water aid and so many other necessities that people need to survive so if you would like to get involved, please donate.”
Feed The Hungry has been running in Coventry since 2005 and works to reduce world hunger by establishing feeding programmes and supporting disaster relief.
Feed The Hungry CEO, Canon Gavin Kibble MBE said: “This partnership has enabled Ruben to be amongst the first on the scene, able to provide food, water and tents.
Donations from around the world are providing a lifeline and hope to so many people impacted by this disaster.”
