Army Bomb disposal experts were called to Kenilworth Castle on Thursday (June 18) after an "object" was found.

A cordon was put in place for safety reasons but was lifted later that evening after police confirmed the item was "not suspicious" and the area was now safe.

A spokesperson for Kenilworth Castle said: "Earlier today (June 18), a member of the team at Kenilworth Castle discovered an unidentified object in an area outside the castle walls.

"The castle team alerted the police who came to the site and set up a cordon.

"The police subsequently confirmed that the object was not suspicious, removed the cordon, and left the site."
