A woman has been charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol, after her loosing control of her car and crashing it in a ditch in Rugby, whilst two times over the alcohol limit
A spokesperson for the force said:
"On Monday 7th July, Rugby patrol officers along with officers from OPU (Operational Patrol Unit) and Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision in the Birdingbury area.
"Upon attendance, it became apparent that the vehicle was well and truly off the road! Miraculously, there was no injuries and no damage to any street furniture.
"The driver of the vehicle, a woman from Sutton Coldfield, blew a roadside sample of 96ug with the legal limit being 35ug, and was subsequently arrested by PC 2790 on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol.
"Upon evidential breath samples being taken in custody, the woman blew a lower reading of 81ug, more then twice the legal drink drive limit of 35ug.
"She was charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol, and will appear in court on Friday 25th July 2025.
"The message is very simple, do not drink and drive. Drink driving costs lives"
