Two young people have been rescued after getting into distress on rocks near Trevellas Cove close to St Agnes.

The RNLI launched its D-Class Inshore lifeboat to bring them to safety.

Volunteer crew members were alerted at 8:46pm, quickly launching St Agnes lifeboat to reach the troubled duo at the neighbouring cove.

Due to significant swells, the approach from the seaward side was deemed unsafe.

Instead, the lifeboat crew approached from the sheltered shore, allowing a crew member to join and aid the youths who were found to be safe, but cold after being stranded there for four hours.

With help from St Agnes Coastguard Cliff Rescue team, the crew ensured the youths safely reached Trevellas beach.

Subsequently, the lifeboat carefully approached the shore to transfer them to Trevaunance Cove.

A third young person had fortunately managed to reach shore and call for help, as had a member of the public who'd run the Coastguard.

The youths were assessed by a medical professional at St Agnes RNLI Lifeboat station, providing them with hot drinks and arranging transportation home.

Volunteer lifeboat helm Ed Schwarz is reminding everyone of the dangers of rising tides, emphasising the importance of checking tide times and having a means of communication for emergencies.

By 9:24pm, the lifeboat was refuelled, rehoused, and ready for service once again.
