A property in Whitley Close, Truro, has been subjected to a partial closure order aimed at reducing antisocial behaviour linked to visitors coming and going.

The order, granted on 4th June, makes it illegal for anyone other than the named residents to enter the premises for the next three months.

Community reports had revealed that these visitors were responsible for disturbances, such as noise, threatening behaviour, speeding vehicles, and suspected drug activity, prompting Cornwall Council Housing and police intervention.

PC Anna Elvans assisted in the local investigation.

“No one should be subject to this type of persistent ASB where they live.

“I don’t underestimate the affect this behaviour had on the happiness, wellbeing and security of local residents, so it was important direct action was taken to prevent further incidents occurring.

“Our team will continue to work closely and patrol the local area to ensure the closure order is being followed.”

PC Elvans expressed gratitude to those who reported the issues.

“I’d also like to say thank you to those who reported the ASB to us.

“I’d like to encourage anyone who is experiencing similar behaviour in their neighbourhood to please report it to the police.

“We are listening and we are taking action off the back of the information you share with us.”

The partial closure order involved collaboration between Devon & Cornwall Police, Cornwall Housing, and local council teams working on the antisocial behaviour issue.

Residents experiencing similar issues should report them on the police website, with urgent instances advised to call emergency services.

Victims of crime can access support and information from Victim Support or Devon and Cornwall Police’s Victim Care Unit.
