Three injured in serious crash involving police car on A30
The force has made a mandatory referral to the watchdog
Three men have been hurt after a crash on the A30 near Hayle.
It happened just before eight o'clock and involved a police car and two other vehicles between Roseworthy and Marsh Lane.
The injured men – including two police officers – were taken to hospital, and the road was shut for several hours but has since re-opened.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: "Three people have been injured following a serious collision on the A30 near Hayle last night, Sunday 7 December.
"We were notified just before 8pm to reports of a collision involving a police vehicle and two cars on the A30 between Roseworthy and Marsh Lane.
"A number of people were treated by ambulance services and three men, including two police officers, were conveyed to hospital with serious injuries. Their families have been informed.
"A full road closure was put in place at St Erth roundabout and at the Hayle bypass while emergency services worked at the scene.
"The road was re-opened this morning.
"Due to the incident involving a police vehicle, a mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 701."
