Strong winds forecast across Cornwall

A Met Office yellow alert is in place from tonight

Strong winds are forecast across Cornwall this evening (Sunday 14 September) as the Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning.

The alert is in place from 8pm.

The Met Office warn strong and gusty winds are likely to cause some disruption to travel and interruptions to power.

People are being warned to be prepared with 80 mile per hour gusts possible in some coastal areas.

What to expect:

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely

It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely will continue across Cornwall overnight and into Monday, as the warning remains in place until 6pm.
