Flights and trains have been cancelled and more than one hundred properties in Cornwall are without power as Storm Bram brings heavy rain and strong winds to the region.

The railway line between Par and Newquay has been shut because of flooding, with disruption expected until the end of the day, whilst dramatic images show the impact of the storm, which brought big waves to Penzance promenade at high tide this morning.

A number of flood alerts and warnings are in force - with the message from the Environment Agency to keep up to date with their messaging on their website.

Seafront homes in Newlyn, Penzance, Longrock and Marazion are also at risk of flooding from waves and spray.

The Met Office has issued amber and yellow weather warnings, urging people to take care.

Drivers are also being warned to avoid flooded roads after several cars got stuck in deep water this morning.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue say it's vital not to risk it, as even shallow water can sweep vehicles away or hide damage to the road underneath.

People are also being reminded not to ignore road closed signs and to let police know if you have to abandon your car.

Devon and Cornwall Police also say they are already receiving lots of calls about incidents on roads across the region.

Their message is to only travel if absolutely necessary; drive at an appropriate speed and allow extra distance between other vehicles.

There's safety advice over on the Cornwall Council website.
