Several fires tackled by Cornwall fire crews overnight

Fire crews in Cornwall were kept busy overnight as they attended several fires across the region.

Emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle alight on the B3275 in Green Mill at 2:53 am on 11th May 2026.

Truro Community Fire Station deployed appliances to tackle the blaze using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, and foam branch.

Earlier in the night, at 12:19 am, St Austell Community Fire Station, along with a wholetime officer, was called to Hallane Road following reports of a large fire.

Crews acted swiftly to ensure the flames were extinguished and the area made safe.

Near midnight, at 11:50 pm, Mullion Community Fire Station attended Goonhilly Downs where two areas of gorse were seen burning close to the roadside.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet and wildfire lance to put out the fires.

In St Anns Chapel, a car was reported on fire near a property at 11:43 pm.

Crews from Callington Community Fire Station managed to extinguish the fire using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.

Further to these incidents, Penzance Community Fire Station attended reports of trees being set alight in Morrab Gardens at 8:29 pm.

The crew utilised wildfire packs to handle the situation, while police were informed of the events.
