Residents and businesses in St Ives and surrounding areas in Cornwall have been experiencing water supply issues since January.

Concerns are being raised by locals as the problems continued this weekend in the region, as the Duchy and the rest of the Country faced increased demand during the recent sweltering conditions.

Communities in Carbis Bay, Halsetown, and Nancledra have voiced their concerns as the influx of tourists during half-term brings more pressure on the network.

Richard Turner, Area Operations Manager at Pennon, addressed the situation: "We’re sorry for the disruption some customers in West Cornwall have experienced and understand the impact.

"Increased seasonal demand is putting pressure on the network. We are currently carrying out upgrades to the Steeple service reservoir, which we expect to be fully operational by the end of June.

"In the meantime, we are putting arrangements in place for tankering to help maintain supplies where needed. We’ll continue to keep the community updated as this work progresses."
