Northern Lights light up South West skies

The Northern Lights have been seen across the South West.

The colourful display of red, pink and green hues could be seen across parts of the West Country last night (Monday 19 January 2026).

Aurora displays happen when charged particles collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere.

The spectacle was shared widely on social media overnight.
