Newquay Minor Injury Unit will remain closed until 2nd November 2026 due to ongoing workforce pressures.

The decision to extend the temporary closure ensures patient safety and reliability amidst vacancies and sickness affecting staffing levels.

The rest of Newquay Community Hospital remains open as usual.

Recruitment is underway to fill health care assistant and specialist practitioner roles, with job adverts and interviews happening over the coming weeks.

Furthermore, a wider review is examining strategies to attract new candidates and build a sustainable workforce.

A new team lead has been appointed to oversee recruitment, strengthen the team, and shape future workforce plans.

The phased reopening of the unit is scheduled to begin on 2nd November.

Initially, it will operate on reduced days, determined by the busiest times, to re-establish the service safely through Christmas.

Opening days and hours will be confirmed closer to the reopening date.

Other nearby minor injury units remain accessible:

  • Bodmin: 8am to 10pm
  • Camborne Redruth: 8am to 10pm
  • St Austell: 8am to 8pm

Details are available on the hospital's live waiting times page.

Newquay Community Hospital provides inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and various facilities, including free parking, disabled access, MSK physiotherapy, and podiatry services.
