Two friends from Cornwall are hoping to break a Guinness World Record at the London Marathon... by running in a two-person inflatable elephant costume.

Jo Robinson and Emma Langstaff are aiming to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes by being the fastest-ever female pair to finish in costume.

Emma is a doctor who deals a lot with the condition, and both of Jo's daughter have it, so it is a cause close to both of their hearts.

Jo said: "It's a tough condition to live with, it's an invisible condition from which they never get a day off.

"The additional thoughts that go into everything they do, with regards to how much insulin they need, they have to count all the carbohydrates in their food.

"But they're fantastic and we've never let it hold us back."

Both of the runners have run marathons before, and Jo said the London Marathon is the best of them all.

Jo said: "The crowds are incredible - I just think it brings out the best in human nature.

"Complete strangers are there willing you in."

Jo hopes that her elephant costume will be a part of that positivity.

She said: "I just wanted to make some people smile, because there's a lot going on in the world."
