Man seriously injured in Looe assault

A man in his 40s continues to be treated in hospital for serious injuries after being assaulted at Looe.

It happened just after midnight yesterday at Fore Street - it's thought he was hit with a bottle.

A local 18 year old man is been held by police on suspicion of GBH with intent.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a serious assault in Looe.

"Police were called to the Fore Street area at around 00:35am on Sunday 13 July following a report a man had been struck with a bottle.

"Officers attended and located the victim unconscious in the street.

"The victim, a local man in his 40s, is currently being treated in hospital having sustained serious injuries.

"An 18-year-old man from Looe has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody at this time.

"A scene guard remained in place following the incident.

"Anybody who witnessed the incident, or who has any other relevant information is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250179541.
