Man charged after report of sexual assault in Launceston
Police increase patrols in the area following the report
A 26-year-old man has been charged following a reported sexual assault on a teenage girl in Launceston.
Yordan Stanchev, a Bulgarian national of no fixed abode in Launceston, is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Truro Magistrates’ Court today, 27th January.
Police were called at around 9.20pm on Sunday, 25th January, after the assault was reported near Launceston College in an alleyway.
Patrol officers and a police helicopter responded to the incident, and there has since been increased police presence in the area.
Officers have expressed their gratitude for the public's cooperation during the investigation.
