A man has been arrested after a report of a man with a firearm within a property in Trewoon near St Austell last night (October 9).

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were called at around 6.30pm on Thursday 9 October following a report of a man with a firearm within a property in Trewoon near St Austell.

"Armed officers attended and following negotiation, a local man in his 30s peacefully exited the property and was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

"He remains in police custody at this time."

Police added that officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries.
