Firefighters tackle large hay fire near Washaway
The public are being asked to be aware and avoid the area
Firefighters are in attendance at a large hay fire near Washaway this evening (Thursday 6 August 2026).
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Bodmin, Wadebridge and Liskeard are dismantling the hay stacks to tackle the fire within.
The service said this is likely to be a protracted incident that continues for a few days.
The public are being asked to be aware and avoid the area due to smoke coming from the fire.
