Fire crews have had a busy start to the week in Cornwall - having been called to multiple gorse fires.

They're urging any locals to keep doors and windows closed if they are impacted by the smoke.

The first callout was last night (29 July) to Kynance Cove, where they said: "Crews from Helston, St Keverne and Mullion are currently dealing with a large fire involving approx 200 m of high gorse in the area of Kynance Cove on The Lizard.

"Crews have advised the public to keep windows closed and to keep away for their own safety."

And this morning, at around 6:45am, they confirmed they were called out again to a further blaze.

It was confirmed: "Fire Control have taken a 999 call from a member of the public who has reported a further wildfire near Kynance Cove.

"Crews were mobilised from Mullion and St Keverne and are on scene.

"This is confirmed as approx 20m of high gorse and Crews are allowing it to burn to a natural fire break and are monitoring the area.

"Members of the public are being asked to stay away from the area for their safety and local residents should keep doors and windows closed if they are being affected by smoke."
