Crews fight huge gorse fire on North Cliffs near Portreath

Firefighters have been battling a significant gorse fire on North Cliffs, near Portreath.

The fire, which is believed to have started on Monday afternoon, has been burning through the night, with crews from Tolvaddon working tirelessly to bring it under control.

A drone captured footage of the large area on the cliff edge that has been affected, showing the smouldering terrain as firefighters employed hose reels and beaters in their efforts to extinguish the blaze.

In their latest update early this morning, Cornwall Fire and Rescue said: "North Cliffs at 04/08/2026 02:52.

"Crews from Tolvaddon are fighting a fire at North Cliffs.

"An area of gorse is alight and crews are using hose reels and beaters to extinguish it."
