Two Cornish holiday parks are being evacuated with Storm Austen due to bring disruption.

An amber warning for wind comes into force across Cornwall, Devon and the Isles of Scilly from 1am tomorrow morning (23rd October).

Haven has said Perran Sands and Riviere Sands parks are closing and people on site are being asked to leave.

The company added that arrivals are also being delayed and it is contacting everyone affected directly about their options.

The Met Office have warned of very strong north-westerly winds, with gusts of 60-70mph developing widely and some gusts of up to 80mph for exposed headlands.

These will be combined with spells of heavy rain, though winds will gradually ease over Friday.

A Haven spokesperson said: "We’re communicating directly with everyone affected about their options and will offer those due to arrive on Friday a break at another Haven park or a later arrival in Cornwall.

"We’re really sorry that people’s breaks are being disrupted but safety of our guests and team comes first”.
