From the town centre to the coastline, community groups will be litter-picking, removing graffiti, refreshing planters, and giving Falmouth a thorough spruce-up.

The event, organised by Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, spans several key areas, with each location benefiting from the dedication of local residents.

This year’s Spring Clean also forms part of the Great British Spring Clean 2026, the national campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy, which runs from 13th–29th March and unites communities, schools, and businesses in caring for the places they love.

Students and Nature Conservation

Falmouth School students will team up with Friends of Tregoniggie Woodland to litter-pick through the Green Corridor and work with Friends of Swanpool to tidy the nature reserve.

At Swanpool Beach, they’ll meet Plastic Free Falmouth, who will highlight the importance of environmental responsibility and leaving only footprints in nature.

Volunteers

Volunteers in the Town Centre

In the heart of Falmouth, four volunteer groups will tackle the main streets, removing litter, graffiti, and fly posters, while rejuvenating planters ahead of spring.

BIFFA will also be jet washing benches across the town centre, giving public spaces a fresh look that residents and visitors are sure to notice.

Beaches, Headlands, and Community Spaces

Across Falmouth, local businesses and community groups will continue the clean-up. Friends of Greenbank and the Greenbank Hotel will care for the beach and green space at Greenbank, while St Michaels Resort joins Friends of Boscawen Fields to refresh Gyllyngvase Beach.

English Heritage will put in a workday on Pendennis Headland, and the Dracaena Centre will tidy the playing fields and skatepark.

Community Pride

The scale of this year’s Spring Clean showcases the pride Falmouth’s community has in their town. Joanne Guest, headteacher at Falmouth School, said:

“Getting our students out into the community, working alongside local organisations, and learning about environmental responsibility is incredibly valuable. Falmouth is a remarkable town, and it’s important our young people understand their role in keeping it that way.”

Keren Cooksey, Falmouth BID Manager, added:

“First impressions matter."

"The Spring Clean sits at the heart of our Enhancing Falmouth commitment, creating a welcoming town our community and visitors can feel proud of.”

A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers, businesses, and organisations taking part.
