A court has heard that a 73-year-old passenger feared he would die during a knife attack by Anthony Williams on a London-bound train.

David Presland was among 10 people attacked on the LNER train on 1st November last year.

While trying to flee, Mr Presland fell to the floor and was stabbed multiple times by Williams, who has denied attempted murder charges for the incident.

The train, which had departed from Peterborough, was stopped at Huntingdon Train Station, thanks to the "quick thinking" of the train driver, according to prosecutor Christopher Paxton KC.

Mr Presland received hospital treatment for three stab wounds, one puncturing his lung and breaking a rib.

Prosecutors have presented CCTV footage showing Williams approaching and stabbing Mr Presland as he lay on the floor.

Another passenger, Scott Bletcher, recalled being unable to move from his window seat and said, "I don't think I'm going to make it" after being stabbed in the head, chest, and forearm.

Williams has admitted intending to cause harm but denies 14 counts of attempted murder.

The trial is ongoing.
