Three jailed after masked raid on St Neots shop
Men stole cash, alcohol, vapes, and tobacco
Three men have been jailed following a raid on a Post Office and Premier Store in Eaton Socon, St Neots.
Shane Barr, 37, Abdifatah Haji, 38, and Americo Monteiro Do Rosario Silva, 42, entered the shop on 11th January and stole cash, alcohol, vapes, and tobacco.
A member of staff quickly called the police after fleeing the shop as the burglary took place.
Following a tip-off from the public, the men were arrested at a house in Prince Close, Eaton Ford, St Neots.
Silva, from West Green Road, North London, pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on 20th April.
Barr, from Moores Walk, St Neots, and Haji, from Wargrave Avenue, North London, admitted burglary and faced sentencing on 27th March.
Barr received a sentence of three years and three months, while Haji was jailed for one year.
Detective Constable Lucy Holderness, who led the investigation, emphasised the gravity of the crime committed.
“These men showed a blatant disregard for the law and the member of staff who must have been terrified, simply so they could steal as much as they could carry,” she said.
“The swift response from officers and the support of the community led to their arrest and subsequent punishment.”
