A47 expected to be closed all day after crash involving two cars and lorry

A 50 mile diversion is in place

The A47 is expected to be shut for most of the day following a serious crash involving two cars and a lorry earlier this morning.

Emergency services were called to the A47 at South Brink at around 7:09. The road is currently closed in both directions between Wisbech and Guyhirn/Rings End.

Cambridgeshire Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to come forward.

Diversion

The following diversions have been put in place by National Highways;

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the Hollow Diamond on diversion road signs.

At Guyhirn roundabout take second exit and continue on the A141 to Chatteris

At the roundabout with the A142 take the first exit onto the A142 for Ely

Continue on the A142 through Mepal to the A10 roundabout at Ely

Take the first exit onto the A10 to King’s Lynn

Continue on the A10 through Littleport, Downham Market, Stow Bardolph, South Runcton, Setchey, Setch and West Winch and rejoin the A47 at Hardwick Roundabout.

Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the Hollow Diamond on diversion road signs.

At the roundabout with the A1101 take first exit and follow the A1101 to Outwell

At Outwell continue forward onto the A1122 through Nordelph and Salters Lode to the A10 roundabout at Downham Market

At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A10 south to Ely

Continue on the A10 through Littleport to the Ely and take the A142 to Chatteris

At the roundabout with the A141 in Chatteris, take the fourth exit and continue on the A141 to re-join the A47 at Guyhirn.

National Highways say that the above diversion route is 50 miles in length and will add a substantial amount of time to journeys for road users.
