A man who stamped on another man's head outside a pub in Peterborough, leaving him with potentially life-changing injuries, has been jailed.

23-year-old Jamie Patrick attacked the victim, a 37-year-old man from Grantham, at The Fayre Spot pub, at the Cresset, in Bretton.

Officers say the pair had a conversation inside the pub, before Patrick followed the man outside and punched him so hard he fell to the ground.

He then punched him four more times and stamped on his head.

The victim was hospitalised with a broken jaw and had to have surgery.

Patrick pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two-years-and-four-months in prison.

DC Sam Moorby said: “The victim had gone outside to have a cigarette and, out of the blue, Patrick ferociously attacked him from behind.

“The victim literally did not see the punch coming and had no opportunity to defend himself. He suffered life-changing injuries and may have permanent nerve damage to his face as a result of the unprovoked attack.”
