Police in Peterborough are appealing for witness accounts and CCTV footage after a recent attempted robbery in Burghley Square.

The incident occurred at approximately 9.30pm on Sunday, 11th October, involving a man in his 20s who was approached by another individual demanding money.

Upon refusal, the victim was punched and knocked to the ground while the assailant attempted to search his pockets.

The attacker fled the scene on Burghley Road when a motorist intervened, instructing him to leave the victim alone.

The victim sustained minor injuries, and nothing was stolen during the encounter.

The suspect is described as white, about 5'10" tall, and wearing a grey hoodie and jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable George Corney is urging anyone who was present or has relevant doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward.
