Kieran Jones sentenced to 42 weeks with restraining order issued
A man who engaged in a month-long campaign of violence against his former partner has been sentenced to 42 weeks in prison.
Kieran Jones, 37, first attacked the woman at her home in Paston in the early hours of 30th November last year, slapping her and causing a swollen lip.
Jones continued his assaults on 4th December by spitting on and punching her, resulting in a cut to her lip.
Further incidents occurred after an argument on 13th December during a meal at a restaurant in March, where Jones threatened to run her over by aggressively revving his car engine.
On 30th December, Jones threw a drink can at the woman and spat on her.
The victim sustained minor injuries from the series of assaults.
Jones, residing on Hawthorn Road, Folksworth, near Peterborough, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, 22nd June.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of assault and driving without due care and attention, for which he incurred nine penalty points but no separate penalty.
Additionally, Jones was issued a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim until 2031.
Detective Constable Emily Richardson, who investigated the case, said, “Jones carried out a horrible campaign of violence against the victim so it’s great he’s been brought to justice."
She expressed hope that Jones would reflect on his actions while imprisoned and reconsider his behaviour in the future.
