Man bailed in ongoing investigation into fatal hotel fire in Odsey
Police and fire service continue to explore cause of blaze
A man arrested in connection with the fatal fire at a hotel in Odsey has been bailed as the investigation into the cause of the blaze continues.
The fire broke out at 9.35pm on Sunday, 26th April at a building on Station Road, involving both a hotel and restaurant.
Fire crews from several locations across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and Bedfordshire attended the scene, using hose reels and jets to tackle the well-developed fire.
While firefighters managed to extinguish the flames, one person died at the scene and another was taken to hospital.
A 44-year-old man from North Hertfordshire was arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life but has been bailed until 29th June.
Detective Inspector Emma Garwood stated that investigations are ongoing in collaboration with the fire service to understand the fire's cause.
She added that authorities are keeping an open mind while inquiries continue.
The teams are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to contact police on 101 and reference 35/30828/26.
Firefighters returned to their stations by 4am after bringing the situation under control.
The investigation seeks to uncover further details about how the fire started and to assess all possible circumstances.
