A drug dealer who barricaded himself in a bedroom and threw a chair at police officers in Peterborough has been jailed for 18 months.

Cambridge Crown Court heard how officers received reports of a disturbance at a home in Orton Goldhay on 27th January.

42-year-old Mark Smith was acting erratically in the property and barricaded himself in a bedroom when officers arrived.

He swore at officers and refused to come out.

When officers forced open the door, Smith threw a chair at them.

He was arrested and found with 21 wraps of crack cocaine and five of heroin.

Smith, of no known address, was jailed for 18 months, after he admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, and assaulting a police officer.

DC Elouise Hicks said: “It was clear these drugs were meant for onward supply, and it was not simply a possession offence.

“Drug supply harms our communities, fuelling crime, exploitation and anti-social behaviour.

“We will not tolerate this kind of activity in Peterborough. Officers are working hard to identify those involved in supplying drugs, to take these substances off the streets and protect local people.”
