Convicted paedophile jailed for breaching court order in Huntingdon
John Ashcroft sentenced following breach of sexual harm prevention order
John Ashcroft, a 32-year-old convicted paedophile, is back in custody for breaching his court-imposed sexual harm prevention order.
Ashcroft, from Judson Court, Huntingdon, was subject to the order until 2032 following a previous conviction for creating indecent images of children.
Police installed monitoring software on Ashcroft’s devices to detect any attempts to access illegal material.
On 15th March 2025, this software alerted authorities to suspicious activity, leading to the examination of his computer and mobile phone.
Indecent images of children were discovered on both devices.
Ashcroft was arrested and admitted to breaching his sex offender requirements along with three counts of making indecent images of children.
He received a one year and one month sentence at Peterborough Crown Court on 1st October.
Detective Constable Kerry Howard emphasized the importance of vigilance:
"Officers from MOSOVO will always check on convicted sex offenders in the county to ensure adherence to conditions and court orders.
"Pre-installed software in this case was instrumental in uncovering further offences and securing Ashcroft’s conviction."
Ashcroft will remain behind bars for the duration of his sentence.
