Drug dealer jailed after his car was stopped by police
Abdul Kareem was jailed for 22 months at Cambridge Crown Court.
A drug dealer has been jailed at Cambridge Crown Court after police stopped the car he was travelling in.
20-year-old Abdul Kareem was being driven in a black Seat Ibiza when it was stopped by police in Hankey Street, Millfield on the 11th of December.
Police observed that there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car. Because of the smell they searched the occupants, including the driver, 19-year-old Husnain Mahmood.
Officers found a Samsung mobile phone and £55 in cash when they searched Kareem.
The then searched the car and discovered a leather pouch containing about 30 small bags of cannabis worth up to £980, as well as multiple small clear plastic bags, another mobile phone and sim card packaging.
Kareem’s mobile phone was also analysed and a large number of messages linked to supplying cocaine was found.
Both men appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday 28th of July.
Kareem, of Cromwell Road, Millfield, was given a jail sentence of 22 months having admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Mahmood, of Lawn Avenue, New England, admitted possession with intent to supply cannabis and driving without insurance. He was given a six-month jail sentence, suspended for two years. He was also ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work.
Det Sgt Sam Moorby said: “It was clear from the quantity of cannabis and the way it was divided into multiple bags that this was more than personal use."
“Kareem was also clearly involved in supplying cocaine in Peterborough. I’m pleased he was apprehended by the Neighbourhood Support Team and has now been jailed for his actions.”
