Two individuals from Cambridgeshire have been sentenced for their involvement in a nationwide drug supply network operated via the dark web.

Nathan Gilson-Massie and Greta Borkauskaite used online encrypted platforms to distribute drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and amphetamine across the UK from their home in Wisbech.

The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) uncovered the vast operation, which relied on Telegram Messenger under the username 'Gorgonites' to arrange transactions.

Order processing then transferred to dark web marketplaces, including Nemesis, which were designed to hide the identities of sellers and buyers.

A police raid on 18th July 2024 at their residence in Worcester Road resulted in their arrest, and a search revealed 125 grams of amphetamine and over 25 grams of heroin.

Furthermore, police recovered packaging materials, detailed order lists, and a USB stick containing access to multiple dark web accounts.

The ERSOU Cyber Crime unit discovered that the Gorgonites account was linked to a minimum of 570 sales on Nemesis since September 2023.

Both suspects faced multiple charges. Gilson-Massie, 29, confessed to nine charges related to possessing drugs with intent to supply and involvement in drug supply.

Borkauskaite, 27, admitted six counts of involvement in drug supply.

In the sentencing on 24th April, Gilson-Massie received three years and six months in prison.

Borkauskaite was given a suspended sentence along with a requirement to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Detective Inspector Colin Troll commented on their operation, stating, “Gilson‑Massie and Greta Borkauskaite ran a high‑volume drug dealing operation, supplying harmful drugs to hundreds of customers across the UK. They believed the anonymity of the dark web put them beyond the reach of law enforcement, allowing them to operate a supply chain from their own home. In reality, every order, message and transaction left a trail, and this case shows that the dark web will never be a safe haven for criminals.”
