A man has been sentenced to prison after police found wraps of cocaine hidden in his underwear during a patrol in Cambridge.
Tonin Bushi, 25, of Heathfield Gardens, London, was stopped in a Ford Fiesta on George IV Street on 4th November 2023 when officers suspected the car was being driven without insurance.
Bushi admitted to only having an Albanian driving licence and no insurance before he was searched by police.
During the search, officers discovered eight wraps of cocaine concealed in Bushi’s underwear and seized £1,374 in cash.
He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to failing to surrender, possession of class A cocaine, money laundering and driving without insurance.
At Cambridge Crown Court today Bushi was sentenced to a year behind bars.
Detective Constable Morgan French, who led the investigation, said: “This case highlights the value of proactive patrols in disrupting drug-related crime. Officers acted swiftly on their suspicions, leading to the recovery of illegal drugs and a significant amount of cash. We remain committed to targeting those who bring harm to our communities through drug-related criminality.”
